Samaria acts as a humanitarian aid provider to Ukraine

After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Samaria has been committed to supporting Ukrainian refugees and has been delivering significant material aid to Ukraine on a monthly basis since spring 2022.

The aid convoys have transported various types of donated transportation equipment, including cars, trucks, vans, ATVs, water trucks, and the Mobile Hospital Clinic busses.

Each aid shipment has included hospital supplies, maternity packages, and dry food items. Stoves, electric generators, warm clothing and shoes, as well as blankets, have helped thousands of people during cold times.

We have also transported people to safety from border areas and facilitated visits for Ukrainian refugees living in Porvoo to their homeland.

The combined value of the donated goods and vehicles exceeds one million euros. The items have been donated by Finnish organizations, churches, hospitals, family businesses, and private individuals. All drivers are professionals, but they participate on a voluntary basis.

Mather

Mather Kokan is a former victim of human trafficking who found a new beginning through the support of Samaria. Alongside her work at Samaria, Mather founded her own organization in Kenya, the One Peace Charity Foundation, with the goal of helping the most vulnerable through practical and sustainable means. She says the support and example she received at Samaria taught her what real, hands-on help means. Now, she wants to bring that same hope and opportunity to her home country — a mission Samaria continues to support.

The foundation has already taken its first steps: a small plot of land with a modest house has been acquired in Kenya, cared for by a young orphan boy. Thanks to the first donations received in May 2025, a chicken coop is being built on the site — an incubator has already been purchased. The goal is to develop the area into a safe and self-sufficient place that can one day offer shelter to young mothers and youth who have lost their parents.

“Marta”´s story is a powerful example of how hope can grow from pain — and how one person can change the world when given the chance.
